The Kaamatan festival is an annual event in the cultural life of the Kadazandusuns of Sabah since time immemorial. In its deepest sense, Kaamatan festival is a manifestation of Creator and Creation relationship, as well as Inter-Creations relationship. It embodies the principal acts of invocation of divinities, appeasing, purification and restoration, re-union of benevolent spirits, and thanksgiving to the Source of All. It is part of a complex wholesome Momolian religious system centered on the paddy rites of passage and the life cycle of Bambarayon - the in-dwelling spirit of paddy.
The Sabahan will be having a looongg holiday...30 and 31 May will be a holiday for them..wah sooo seronok.. Pada masa ini the highlight of the day will be the Unduk Ngadau competition.. a few years back, my sister in law used to join this competition at district level hehehe... Even after giving birth to 7 children, she's still pretty.

The only thing that i dislike about Kaamatan is the attitude of those who drink like a fish and cari gaduh bila dah mabuk. haiyooo..kalau bukan Kaamatan pun, kalau hari rabu masa hari tamu di pekan Tamparuli, memang akan kelihatan mereka yang dah mabuk ini membuat bising di pasar.
Oklah...gotta go now. Selamat berhujung minggu.
Have a fabulous weekend everybody..

ReplyDeleteHi MokCik, I have always wondered why I never stopped longer when in Sabah, KK during my business trips!
ReplyDeleteThe ladies there are really exotic.....
I have always been fascinated with Sabah and Sarawak, the various peoples, their culture.
And but....I can tell you, being used to entertaining my contractors and the heavy drinking involved....I never got drunk....I know my limits....
But the drink, tuak they drink over in Sabah and Sarawak....don't fool around with it.
That drink doesn't take prisoners!
Saya minum dua, da nampak bulan naik, ha ha, nampak bintangs....not the walking kinds, the ones up in the sky. Really strong that drink!
But I remember creating quite an impression with some women there when landing in our corporate jet... all looking at me wondering, 'siapa tu'? Ha ha ha. Waaa, I think if I drop my resume, tentu ada cherita, arhaaaaa ha ha ha.
Da la miss chance.

If only i can afford it, rasa macam tak nak balik Putrajaya masuk kerja balik hahaha
I can imagine the look that you got when you came out of your corp jet tu...Mesti all SYTs yang tengok pun ternganga.. "WoW, siapalah jejaka ini" hahaha
Apa boleh buat you sudah sangkut sama MRS Lee, so miss chance nak use your ninjalogy on those Kadazan SYTs hahaha...
Ooo those tapai/tuak really smells la..i pun tak tahan bau dia. Luckily our non muslim family never brought those drink into our home, though when we go to their house, it will be a free flowing drinking sessions. Those people yang tak biasa minum, even drinking one glass also memang mabuk punya la. Sometimes, it is fun to watch all the makcik2 and pakcik singing bila dah mabuk hahaha
